past we have issued travel insurance policies for a wide range of cancers.
Raymond (60): Metastatic renal cell carcinoma with nodal and liver involvement. Triple therapy interferon,
interlukin 2 and 5FU. Sunitinib ongoing. Spain for 8 days.
Simon (40): Telangiectatic osteosarcoma knee with pulmonary involvement, chemotherapy followed by
resection and endoprosthesis insertion. Lung nodules resected and completed chemotherapy. Spain for 15
days.
Norman (67): Transitional cell carcinoma bladder Chemoradiotherapy completed. Recurrence
cystoprostatectomy. Has urostomy. Also carcinoid tumour, resected. Recent diagnosis adenocarcinoma
prostate. Australia for 26 days.
Adam (18): Acute myeloid leukaemia (FAB M3, promyelocytic) chemotherapy ongoing. Spain for 7 days.
Paul (14): Glial tumour, resection followed by radiotherapy. Spain for 10 days.
Jane (55): Cancer Jejunum, bypass and resection followed by chemotherapy. Relapse pulmonary involvement
currently no treatment. Note also diagnosed ovarian cancer, oopherectomy followed by chemotherapy. Now
considered to be secondary to the primary above. Portugal for 8 days.
James (74): diagnosed prostate cancer with skeletal and nodal involvement. Hormone treatment ongoing.
Radiotherapy to hip & shoulder. Malta 8 days.
Lois (52): diagnosed multiple myeloma autograft followed by sibling bone marrow transplant. Valaciclovir,
sodium clodronate, co-codamol & penicillin ongoing. Canada skiing 10 days.
Daniel (17): diagnosed osteosarcoma left leg with pulmonary involvement. Resection followed by hindquarter
amputation. Chemotherapy, thoracotomy with resection of bilateral pulmonary lesions. France 5 days.
David (16): diagnosed secreting germ cell pineal tumour. 3rd ventriclostomy and VP shunt. Chemoradiotherapy
VP shunt revision, recent shunt reprogram. Florida 17 days.
Heather (64): diagnosed metastatic sigmoid colon cancer with liver involvement. Resection colon right salpingo
oopherectomy. Hemihepatectomy and right posterior sectionectomy followed by chemotherapy. Indeterminate
right lung nodule and recurrent liver metastases. Also breast cancer 1989 - mastectomy - uneventful since.
Dubai 15 days.
Adrian (13): Ewing's sarcoma. Leg amputation, secondaries in lung resected, chemo and radiotherapy
completed. Prosthesis and also uses a wheelchair. Canada for 21 days.
James (11): 1995 Brain tumour, medulloblastoma, surgery, chemo & radiotherapy. Recurrence, surgery &
chemotherapy and stem cell transplant. Second recurrence, now on oral chemotherapy. Antigua for 7 days.
Bill (63): Colon cancer with secondaries in lungs. Resection and chemotherapy continuing. USA for 21 days.
Trevor (5): Diagnosed myotubular myopathy at birth. Ventilator & oxygen dependent, confined to a wheelchair,
requires 24/7 nursing care. Tracheotomy & gastrostomy. EuroDisney for 5 days with wish giving charity.
Travelling via ambulance.
Eric (65): diagnosed carcinoma rectum with liver involvement. Anterior resection and hepatic metastectomy
Chemotherapy completed. Hepatic lobectomy and reversal of ileostomy. Relapse - liver involvement,
radiofrequency ablation. USA 19 days.
Graham (66): diagnosed metastatic colorectal cancer with liver involvement. Resection bowel followed by
chemotherapy. Relapse liver involvement, radiofrequency ablation followed by chemotherapy. Hepatectomy
followed by ileostomy reversal. Relapse liver and lung. Stent insertion followed by chemotherapy. Tenerife 8
days.
John (84): diagnosed prostate cancer. Hormone therapy ongoing. New Zealand 45 days.
Cathy (3): Diagnosed Neuroblastoma adrenal gland, also in liver, spine, pelvis, legs, arms, skull and ribs.
Chemotherapy February to December 2001. Commenced MIBG therapy January 2002, rescue autologous
BMT. No treatment since. USA for 19 days.
Harry (17): Brain tumour, Astrocytoma, January 1992. Resection at age 6 & 13 yrs, multiple pituitary deficiency.
Wheel chair dependent, he is also blind and over weight. Florida for 14 days.
Tracy (61): Breast cancer 1998, mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Relapse bone and liver.
Commenced treatment and ongoing. Spain for 7 days.
Beth (9): Heart transplant at age 2. Lymphoma (LPD) diagnosed February 2001 completed chemotherapy
September. Florida for 17 days.
Fran (8): Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia June 1992, ocular relapse June 1994, multiple relapses (7 of CNS).
Now partial seizure due to tumour - solid lump of ALL resected followed by post op chemotherapy. Currently
maintained on chemotherapy. Has Ommaya reservoir. Florida for 14 days.
Clare (16): Diagnosed metastatic neuroendocrine carcinoma, chemotherapy ongoing. Holland for 5 days.
Josh (4): Diagnosed nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Chemoradiotherapy and interferon. Spain for 7 days.
Stacey (26): diagnosed Ewing's sarcoma aged 13. Chemotherapy followed by resection. Post operative
radiotherapy. Relapse aged 18, pulmonary involvement. Resection followed by high dose chemotherapy, stem
cell transplant and radiotherapy. Relapse, chemoradiotherapy. Lanzarote 8 days.
John (9): Acute Myeloid Leukaemia October 1998. Chemotherapy commenced, relapse December 1999,
unrelated BMT August 2000. Second relapse, now no medication. St. Lucia for 10 days.
Darren (11): Wilms tumour and kidney resected. Chemotherapy completed. Barbados for 15 days.
Harry (8): Brain tumour, Craniopharyngioma. Resection and post operative radiotherapy completed. Now no
medication for the tumour though on pituitary hormone replacement regime. Has a VP shunt. Majorca for 14
days.
Olivia (51): Adenocarcinoma (of an unknown primary). Resection, ovaries and omentum. Post-operative
chemotherapy completed. Spain for 7 days.
Isobel (2): Neuroblastoma. Complete resection, stem cell transplant, chemo and radiotherapy. Jersey for 7
days.
Sam (27): Diagnosed anaplastic astrocytoma, resection and radiotherapy. Portugal for 15 days.
Christopher (76): Diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme, resection and radiotherapy recently completed. France
for 8 days.
Jean (69): Diagnosed Colon cancer 3 years ago. resection, colostomy and chemotherapy. Also Non Hodgkin's
Lymphoma 12 years ago. Resection and radiotherapy. Recurrence followed by resection and radiotherapy.
Travelling to USA for 23 days.
Henry (51): Glioblastoma, resection followed by radiotherapy. Recurrence, resected again, no chemo or
radiotherapy. Second recurrence, chemotherapy ongoing. France for 7 days.
Beth (68): Breast cancer January 2001, lumpectomy and radiotherapy. Recurrence February 2002, spine, ribs,
shoulder, and pelvis. Commenced Tamoxifen, Zoladex and Zometa. St. Lucia for 42 days.
Karen (34): Hodgkin's disease. On chemotherapy never been neutropaenic. Florida for 17 days.
Albert (75); Diagnosed mesothelioma, recent pleurectomy. Spain for 8 days.
Pam (66): Diagnosed mantle call lymphoma. Chemotherapy ongoing. Portugal for 15 days.
