Queen's Award for Enterprise
On the 21st April
2007 H.M. The Queen bestowed the country’s highest corporate honour
‘The Queen’s Award for Enterprise’ on
InsureCancer and
Medi Travelcover Ltd. in recognition of:
“Pioneering
insurance underwriting innovation for those affected by cancer.”
The citation is as follows:
“The award is made to the small company
Medi
Travelcover Ltd. which also has the trading style
InsureCancer for the
provision of travel insurance for cancer patients.
Mainstream insurance companies do not provide travel
insurance for applicants undergoing cancer treatment or will only do
so at high premiums. Medi
Travelcover Ltd. offers the service at realistic prices.
The innovation relates to the abandonment of the ‘one size fits all’
approach and to the alignment of insurance with clinical risks on a
case by case basis. The methodology includes input from the
applicant’s consultant as well as from the company’s own panel of
doctors. The commercially successful service is meeting a
previously unsatisfied need which is highly appreciated by
customers.”
